Rector after questioning: This is a complaint against the entire academic community

After he was questioned for almost three hours at the Criminal Police Department (CPD), University of Belgrade Rector Vladan Djokic told the media that the criminal complaint filed against him is “a complaint against the entire academic community.”
Djokic said he received the summons on Thursday, asking him to report to the police in connection with a criminal complaint filed against him.
“Honoring the laws of this country, I came in and gave a statement in which I said that I do not believe I committed any criminal offense. This charge has been brought against me personally, but also against every member of the academic community who has, for months, been working to articulate and implement the initiatives started by students and supported by professors and citizens of this country.”
He thanked everyone who came to support him and all those who continue to do so.
“I don’t know how the proceedings will unfold from here. But this is a complaint against all deans, students, professors, the entire academic community. I hope the academic community remains united and in solidarity,” Djokic said.
Hundreds gathered in front of the Criminal Police Department in New Belgrade on Friday morning to show their support for Rector Djokic, chanting slogans such as “We won’t give up our rector.”
