The University of Belgrade Rector’s Office said Tuesday that during a meeting with Prime Minister Djuro Macut on ways to overcome the current crisis, the rector’s team emphasized that normalizing the situation at the university requires, above all, the fulfillment of student demands and the elimination of all forms of pressure on the academic community.

According to the statement, key steps include annulling the unconstitutional government regulation on norms and standards for working conditions at universities and faculties, as well as ending media pressure directed at the academic community.
“The discussion did not yield concrete results at this stage. It was agreed that talks will continue tomorrow at the Serbian Government building. We will keep the academic community and the broader public informed in a timely manner,” the statement read.
The Rectorate added that the University of Belgrade remains firmly committed to preserving its autonomy and protecting the interests of its students, faculty, and all members of the academic community.
It said the meeting was held at the invitation of Prime Minister Djuro Macut, and the University of Belgrade was represented by Rector Vladan Djokic, University of Belgrade Vice-Rector for Finances Zorica Vujic and Vice-Rector for Education Dejan Filipovic.
