The Women in Black NGO said on Tuesday that a man posing as a mailman threw red paint at the entrance to its offices.
“The attack was in the context of the 27th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica and the many activities which Women in Black organized over the past two days,” a statement said.
It said that this was one of a number of attacks on the NGO’s offices and its activists in an atmosphere of impunity spread by the Serbian regime headed by President Aleksandar Vucic at the level of the state and society. “We feel that this attack by an unknown perpetrator has the backing of state institutions which are allowing and dosing violence over everyone they see as political rivals,” the statement said, adding that failure to identify the attacker will show that institutions are turning a blind eye to the violence that Women in Black are exposed to and that they will encourage new attacks.
