Regulator says more than 2,000 5G base stations in Serbia
Serbia has 2,354 active fifth-generation (5G) base radio stations, the country's Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (RATEL) said on Wednesday in an update on the mobile network.
According to RATEL's register of recorded radio stations as of Aug. 4, state-controlled Telekom Srbija operates 1,013 active 5G base stations, A1 Srbija has 807, and Yettel has 534. RATEL said Yettel also operates 1,771 base stations using 4G/5G Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS) technology.
RATEL said the register is updated monthly using data submitted by mobile network operators and includes information on the location, frequency band and technology used by each active radio station.
The regulator said it would regularly publish updated figures on the number of active 5G base stations by operator, along with a map of 5G coverage in Serbia, on its website to improve transparency and keep the public informed about the network's development.
