The Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM) awarded a local Belgrade broadcasting license to the pro-regime Informer TV three days before the expiry of the REM Council’s term, Cenzolovka reported.
This decision is also deemed illegal, as there were no interviews held with the candidates prior to its approval.
The decision was made on November 1, and announced on November 4, the final day of the current Council’s term under the new Law on Electronic Media, reported Cenzolovka.
Despite being required to conduct public interviews with candidates for these TV licenses, REM failed to do so. Other candidates for the Belgrade license included Grocka-based Gradska TV Plus, Antena TV, and Antena + TV.
