A report on local taxes and duties said that Serbia needs an electronic public registry to increase transparency.

The report, produced as part of a project financed by USAID and implemented by Partner Solutions, NALED, KPMG and the Mihajlo Pupin Institute, said that a method has to be defined to set the amounts of local duties in line with the real costs of the service provided.

It said that the average local tax and duty is 7,500 Dinars (1 Euro – 118 Dinars) and their numbers range from 10 in one municipality to 144 in another. The highest taxes are on business activities (40,500 Dinars), construction (17,000 Dinars) while the lowest are for registry documents (800 Dinars).

Kragujevac Mayor Nikola Dasic told the presentation that his city has 53 administrative taxes which account for 0.1 percent of its income (6.5 million Dinars).
