Counselor of the United States Department of State Derek Chollet spoke on Tuesday with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
Chollet said in an X post that, in his conversation with Kurti, he strongly condemned violence against Kosovo Police.
“Spoke with PM Kurti of the heinous attack Sunday in Kosovo. Strongly condemned violence against Kosovo Police; expressed condolences on the loss of Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku,” said Chollet.
He said he spoke with the Serbian President about de-escalation.
“Spoke to President Vucic on the importance of immediate de-escalation in the north of Kosovo and avoiding actions which could further inflame tensions. The tragic loss of life underscores the urgent need to restore calm and return to the EU-facilitated Dialogue,” Chollet said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
