Members of an ultra-right organization tried to prevent an opposition gathering in the city of Kragujevac on Tuesday but were moved away by the police.
The Party of Freedom and Justice (SSP) organized the gathering of some 300 people in Kragujevac, headed by party deputy leader Marinika Tepic who spoke to reporters just before four cars drove up, blocked the street honking their car horns and displaying four large Serbian flags.
SSP official Obrad Turkovic told N1 that two plain clothes female police officers walked up showed their badges while six other police officers pulled the Levijatan organization activists from their cars and walked them down the road about 100 meters. He said that the young men in black shirts managed to block the street for less than 10 seconds before the police reacted and searched the vehicles. Levijatan is a right-wing nationalist organization which supports the policies of the Serbian authorities.
