The Rio Tinto company attempted on Wednesday to demolish the houses it has purchased in the village of Nedeljice, western Serbia, with the activists of the Jadar Association trying to prevent the demolition.

N1’s reporter said the police are also on the ground.

Activists of the Jadar Association told N1 that the Rio Tinto Company has illegal demolition permits, that this was reported to the Republic Inspection Office on August 15, but that they have not received a reply.

The permits were signed by the urban planning chief who is not authorized to sign them, one of the activists told N1.
