Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic recently expressed hope that Serbia would secure an ownership stake in the potential Jadar lithium mine.

When questioned about potential co-ownership in the lithium mining operation, Vucic noted that the ownership share issue had never been previously raised.

“I will surprise you with my answer - I hope we will manage to secure that. Before the end of the year, we will get more information on this,” he said during a Monday appearance on Serbian state television (RTS).

N1 made two attempts to contact Rio Tinto regarding a possible partnership with Serbia but received no response by the time of publication of this story.

This marks an unusual departure from Rio Tinto’s typical practice of promptly responding to all N1’s coverage of the Jadar project.
