The company Rio Tinto reacted to claims by Ecological Uprising saying that this organization released a number of false statements about the activities of the company Rio Tinto in Serbia in connection with the Jadar project.
Rio Tinto rebutted claims that in September this year it participated in the signing of a Letter of Intent between the Government of Serbia and the European Union (EU).
The company further said that it respects the Serbian Government decision of January 2022, and insisted that all of the company’s activities are in line with its legal status.
Rio Rinto said that, however, it still believes in the Jadar project, that jadarite can be safely and responsibly exploited and processed and that it can significantly contribute to the Serbian economy and the transformation of the entire Serbian industry.
