Romanian Embassy condemns Informer’s fake news, demands apology

Following the defamatory and unfounded information published on March 13 by the tabloid Informer, the Romanian Embassy in Serbia firmly condemns such fake news lacking in professional ethics and placed outside true facts and intended to manipulate Serbian public opinion, the Embassy said.
This pro-regime tabloid reported that, on the instructions of the opposition, numerous Romanian citizens are arriving in Serbia with plans to break into apartments in Belgrade while citizens are protesting.
“We deeply deplore the spreading of such allegations that openly promote hate speech and affect the perception of Romanians among Serbian public. They are in complete contradiction with European values and the European path that Serbia has undertaken. The Embassy stands in solidarity with the Romanian community that was offended by the article and, at the same time, conveys its thanks for the messages of support from the Serbian citizens who, in the overwhelming majority, see the Romanian people as a friend, sharing common values,” said the Embassy.
The Embassy said it requests the Informer to issue a public apology and to immediately withdraw the offensive article.
