RTS says Bulgarian spy arrested

The Serbian state TV (RTS) said on Monday that the police in Bosilegrad arrested a man suspected of spying for Bulgaria.

It quoted a statement from prosecutors in the southern city of Vranje which said that the man was suspected of passing military secrets to Bulgarian services. The information allegedly passed on could inflict damage on Serbia’s security, defense and military interests, it added. The man was identified only by his initials (LJG) and year of birth (1963).

According to the statement the man was arrested in the border town of Bosilegrad following an investigation by the civilian Security Information Agency (BIA), Military Security Agency (VBA), the police and prosecutors in Vranje. Bosilegrad has a large ethnic Bulgarian population.
