Russian artist expelled from Serbia over pictures of protests

Artist Yar Bulavin took pictures and video of student protests leading to his expulsion from the country, Nis University students said in social media posts.

The students condemned the “latest in a series of repressive measures by the illegitimate authorities”. They recalled that despite claims of the country’s European path and democratic values, foreign nationals are being expelled for supporting the protests.

Bulavin has exhibited his work several times in Serbia. The students said that the decision to expel him is political retaliation.
