According to unofficial sources, S.R. was shot and killed during an attempted arrest, although the exact location in Novi Pazar has not yet been disclosed. It is reported that he refused to surrender and opened fire on the SAJ officers, who returned fire.
S.R. had been on the run since late June after allegedly injuring a member of the Gendarmerie with a crossbow in front of the Israeli Embassy in Belgrade.
He was previously sentenced to 13 years and 6 months in prison for an armed conflict with police in the Trnava neighbourhood of Novi Pazar.
Following his release from prison, S.R. remained active on social media and spoke to certain media outlets about his time in prison. Unofficial reports suggest that after his release, he became a leader of the Wahhabi movement in the Sandzak region.
