SANU boards in support of protesting farmers

The SANU Rural Issues and Energy boards said in a statement that the farmers have an inalienable right to express their dissatisfaction at peaceful protests. It added that the use of force, police brutality, targeting in the media and introduction of divisions in associations are unacceptable.

“These hard working people should be released immediately, their place is not in jail,” it added commenting the arrests of a number of the farmers.

“It’s unacceptable for big capital and the state to exert combined pressure on Serbian farmers to force them to accept unsuitable solutions,” the statement said.
