The SBB Foundation and the Bird Protection and Study Society of Serbia launched a new project as part of the Don’t Litter, No Excuse! Program as a fun way for school children to gain practical knowledge about the environment.

The workshops project will go ahead in three segments – Nature That We Love, Nature That We Hear and Nature That We Feel. The workshops are meant to motivate children to notice and investigate nature using their senses in order to develop their love for and the need to protect nature, a press release said.

“Our Don’t Litter, No Excuse! Program is intended to protect the environment and educate the young. The pilot project workshop Learn From Nature was organized in 30 places across Serbia this winter and it confirmed that children need this content. Children take an active part, they are curious as they should be which is why we adapted the workshop to their age group (grades 1 to 4),” the press release quoted SBB Foundation CEO and United Group CSR Director Jovana Lukic as saying.

“The questions children ask and the answers they offer give us hope that they will have a different approach to the world we live in in future. We saw wonderful, curious children are open to learning about nature whether the workshop was held in a village school or a big city school,” the press release quoted Uros Stojiljkovic of the Bird Protection and Study Society.

Workshops will be held in schools to the end of the year and at summer camps later. The Learn from Nature project will return to schools after that.
