SBB: Informer, republika.rs use lies in attempt to blame SBB for tragic accident
The company SBB strongly rebuts the allegations by the portals republika.rs and informer.rs published in their articles of November 10, 2023, in which they said that a gas cylinder most probably exploded in a house in the Belgrade Zemun municipality on Friday morning because a gas pipe was punctured allegedly when digging a trench for SBB optic cables.
A man was killed and a woman injured in the accident.
“The company SBB was not carrying out any works at this location in Zemun, our technicians were not in the field, or our subcontractors, nor were they digging trenches for optic cables at that location, as said in the article,” said the SBB.
The company added that such accusations are very dangerous, “first of all they are unverified and they directly insinuate that the SBB is the cause of the tragic accident in which one person was killed.”
“The SBB will address the relevant authorities in connection with these articles and take the appropriate legal steps. We note that this is not the first time that Informer and republika.rs are releasing unverified and false information about the company SBB. We call on the relevant investigative bodies to come forward and rebut the false information published by these two media outlets,” said the SBB.
Members of the Serbian Internal Affairs Ministry detained on Friday the responsible persons from the company OZA PE d.o.o from Pecinci, and seven workers, suspected of damaging a gas pipe in Zemun on Thursday, which is the caused of the explosion, Nova.rs reported.
As the portal Nova.rs unofficially learnt, it is suspected that they are subcontractors who damaged the gas pipeline while carrying out construction works and failed to inform the state-owned gas supply company Srbijagas.
