Security, protesters clash at construction site

Local residents have been protesting for months to stop the construction of a building which they say will close off their building. Wednesday’s clash came when the security guards tried to move protesters out of the way of a cement truck. The owner of the construction site traded insults with the protesters. Police officers present at the site told the site owner to remove his security guard and warned the local residents that they would in violation of law and order regulations if they continue their protest.

The site owner told N1 earlier that he brought in the security guards because his workers have been blocked for days.

All of Belgrade has seen wide-spread construction over the past few years, mainly by people alleged to be close to the ruling party.
