Seismologist Slavica Radovanovic stated that based on the increased seismic activity in October and November, it can be expected that a stronger earthquake will hit Serbia in the next ten to 12 years.

Radovanovic told Prva TV that, the number of smaller earthquakes registered in the previous period is a continuation of the 6.2 Richter scale earthquake near Petrinja, which occurred in December last year and claimed seven lives.

“This shows the fact that the initial assumptions about how seismic activity will further develop in Serbia were correct." (Earthquakes) go along the entire perimeter of the Dinaric Alps and cover an area that some seismic activity takes place. As far as we are concerned, in ten years, maybe 12, a stronger earthquake could take place,” she said.
