Zorica Vujic, deputy University Rector for finances, told N1 that the investigators wanted to know about the student protests and blockades. She said that the Rector’s Collegium is being blamed for activities that are not within its powers. She said this was a form of pressure on the university.
The charges were filed by Mario Spasic, General Secretary of the NGO Transparency Council for Monitoring Human Right and Fight Against Corruption. That NGO has no connection with Transparency Serbia whose portal says that Spasic registered the NGO in the city of Trstenik in 2005 before the introduction of a law which forbids organizations from using names of other organizations in their own names.
Vujic said she was accused of abusing her position along with other university officials during the 2 hour+ interrogation. “The summons arrived last night. They were fine, the questions were about the student blockades and information that the Rector’s office has, our activities. My statement took some timeand I do not see any responsibility in the activities listed in the charges… I see this as pressure on the university,” she said.
Other senior Belgrade University officials, including Rector Vladan Djokic, will also be interrogated.
