Senior ruling party official on Informer TV discusses student Cicvaric’s murder; student says he is afraid

Sinisa Vucinic, a member of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) Main Board, said on pro-regime Informer TV that “they will kill the youngest among the blockaders,” referring to student protestors.

“They’ll take out the youngest among the blockaders because they have failed, everything’s crumbling for them. I’ll tell you who they are planning to target. They will kill someone named Cicvaric, Pavle, I think, the youngest one. They will kill a student blockader to rally more people, to get the crowds back out in solidarity, but then pin the blame on the police,” Vucinic said during the broadcast on Informer TV.
Pavle Cicvaric, a student at the Faculty of Political Sciences, said he heard the claims on Informer TV that someone would attempt to kill him soon.
“I don’t know if they’re just talking nonsense or if they’re actually planning something, but either way, if something happens to me, (Serbian President) Aleksandar Vucic’s regime is solely responsible,” Cicvaric said.
“I don't think I've fully processed the information emotionally, I’m still stressed. I got the news while I was at a plenary session… As for this radical rhetoric, I can’t verify if it’s just empty talk, but I’m wary. We have seen cases in the past where radical threats led to actual killings. I don’t understand these moves, it seems counterproductive, even from their perspective,” said Cicvaric.
He told N1 that he is scared because he has never been in a situation like that before.
“I’m afraid because I’ve never dealt with anything like this, but I’m not the only one going through this. My case might be extreme, but I think the solution lies in public support. Free media, students, and others stepping up… Whenever there’s an injustice, we need the public to stand behind us,” the FPN student explained.
Pavle Cicvaric said the regime is backed into a corner, with the international community increasingly aware of what is happening in Serbia, which is why “this regime is making increasingly bizarre moves.”
