A senior official of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) said on Monday that ambassadors don’t appoint officials in Serbia.
“It’s ridiculous to think that an ambassador of any country will appoint someone to a position,” SNS Executive Board Chairman Darko Glisic is quoted as saying by the pro-regime Vecenje Novosti Daily.
“We’ll see who is going to be in the government once the final results of the elections are released and talks start to form the parliamentary majority,” he said.
Glisic said that the SNS “can’t stand anyone offering themselves through the media” adding that he “received an incredible number of messages from party main board members who can’t wait to deal with people like that at the next meeting”.
Earlier, Glisic spoke out against SNS MP Dragan Sormaz alleging that he was offering himself for an official post through social media posts and statements to the media. Sormaz spoke out against the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the displaying of Russian military insignia on T-shirts and in favor of pro-western policies. Sormaz headed Serbia’s delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
