Leader of the Serb Democracy party Aleksandar Arsenijevic and the party's deputy leader Ivan Orlovic, who were detained in Mitrovica North on Tuesday morning for alleged disruption of public order during the Kosovo Prime Minister’s visit to the city, have been released from detention and will be fined, KoSSev reported.

While Prime Minister Albin Kurti was visiting a newly opened fast-food restaurant on the Mitrovica pedestrian street, Arsenijevic was detained just 100 meters away for protesting.

Shortly afterward, Orlovic was also detained nearby.

The Kosovo police confirmed that both men were charged with disturbing public order during the Pristina officials’ visit and that they would face fines.

During the arrests, citizens expressed their discontent, while the entire city of Mitrovica was under heavy presence of the Kosovo Police Special Unit.

Following the politicians’ arrest, a small group, comprised of political allies, citizens, and civil activists, gathered in front of the police station in northern Mitrovica, waiting for their release.
