Serb List to boycott local elections in north Kosovo

The Belgrade-backed Serb List said it will boycott the local elections in north Kosovo, announced by Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani for December 18.

“In the light of Pristina’s decision on the holding of extraordinary elections in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, we wish to inform the public that the Serb List will not be participating in these elections, and neither will the citizens who support our party, who account for more than 95 percent of people in these parts,” said a Serb List press release.

Head of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo Petar Petkovic said that, without Serbs, the extraordinary elections for four municipalities in north Kosovo are pointless and, as such, they are doomed to failure, said this Office.

„With the unilateral decision to hold some extraordinary elections shortly before the great St. Nicholas saint’s day the Pristina authorities continue to perpetrate legal and institutional violence against the Serbs, also violating, among other things, point 11 of the Brussels Agreement,” said Petkovic in a written statement.

He said this was Pristina’s new attempt to occupy north Kosovo.
