Serbia Against Violence election ticket officials called the public to bring voter notices to their offices or to their local police station.
Voter notices are sent to all voters at a certain address notifying them of where their polling station is located. There have been a large number of reports that residents, especially in Belgrade, have been finding notices for people who they have never heard of at their addresses. The opposition has claimed the authorities have been registering voters known to be loyal to the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) in municipalities where the party has not done well in past elections.
The Serbia Against Violence press release said that every one of those notice slips is proof of so-called phantom voters. They also called the public to check if anyone was registered as resident at their homes. Residence registration is done by the Internal Affairs Ministry (MUP).
