The opposition Serbia Against Violence (SPN) coalition held a meeting on Wednesday and decided to attend the Serbian Parliament Collegium meeting scheduled for Thursday.

The SPN said that an agreement has also been reached on common goals and on the insistence for all the ODIHR recommendations to be implemented before new elections are held.

Following two unsuccessful Collegium meetings on electoral conditions, Serbian Parliament speaker Ana Brnabic invited the opposition to a new meeting on Thursday, April 11.

In addition to the parliamentary parties, civil society organizations – CeSID, CRTA, Transparency Serbia - and Serbia’s international partners who participated in previous meetings on the implementation of the ODIHR recommendations, have also received invitations to attend the Thursday meeting.

Talks between the government and the opposition on improving the electoral conditions by implementing the OSCE recommendations were interrupted because the government rejected one of the three opposition demands – for all local elections in the country due this year to be held on the same day.
