Serbia, countries in region align with EU measures against ISIL, Al-Qaeda

The High Representative of the Council of the European Union (EU) issued a press release on behalf of the EU on the alignment of certain countries concerning the latest restrictive measures against ISIL (Da’esh) and Al-Qaeda and persons, groups, undertakings and entities associated with them.

On 17 March 2025, the Council adopted Decision (CFSP) 2025/5141, which adds one entity to the list of persons, groups, undertakings and entities set out in the Annex to Decision (CFSP) 2016/1693.

The countries that have aligned with this Council Decision include: Albania, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Republic of Moldova, Serbia and Ukraine.

These countries will ensure that their national policies conform to this Council Decision, said the press release.

The European Union welcomed this decision by partner countries and emphasized the importance of a unified approach to preserving international peace and security.
