Serbia, EU sign agreement to finance environment and energy program

The Ministry of European Integration said on Wednesday that the Serbian government signed an agreement with the European Union to finance an environment and energy program.

A government press release said that the Financing Agreement for the Multiannual Operational Programme on Environment and Energy is worth €325.2 million, €240 million of which is in IPA fund grants.
According to National IPA Coordinator, Ministry State Secretary Mira Radenovic Bojic, the agreement brings significant financial support to improve environmental protection and develop the energy sector. She added that the program will help align with European Union standards.
The press release quoted EU Delegation chief Andreas von Beckerath as that the the agreement reflects the Union’s commitment to supporting Serbia. He said the investments is intended to help Serbia’s alignment with EU standards and will deliver tangible benefits.
The programme covers the programming years 2024–2027 and will be implemented from 2025 to 2032, with a co-financing rate of 26.2%.
