Serbia has opted for nuclear energy, which is clear, above all, after the recent lifting of the moratorium on the construction of nuclear power plants. Amendments to some other laws, however, send a message that Serbia is not that far from preparations for that, according to Forbes Serbia.

Those law changes include the amendments to the Law on Republic Administrative Fees. The draft is ready and is open for comments by October 17.
The new version of the law provides for the introduction of the possibility of electronic payment of administrative fees, but also the introduction of new bases for collection.
Significant changes will thus be made to tariff number 200. It prescribes tariffs for all activities related to radiation activities and the use of ionizing radiation sources. The use of radioactive material and the preparation of a nuclear facility. These items are also among the most expensive. Three tariffs exceed – one million dinars.

Anyone who requests approval for a report on the selection of a location for the construction of a nuclear facility will pay the republican budget – 1,090,210 dinars. The same amount is foreseen for approval upon request for a report on the design of a nuclear facility. Just like for approval for project changes made during the construction of a nuclear facility.
But the tariff also foresees the following steps that are passed until electricity starts to flow from atomic energy. Thus, approval for a report on the testing of a nuclear facility without radioactive and nuclear materials will cost 408,830 dinars. The moment it is tested with radioactive and nuclear materials, it will cost 726,810 dinars. Approval for the temporary cessation of the operation of a nuclear facility will cost the same.
This is also where we see the terms that we would not want to face in the context of a nuclear facility. Approval for site remediation and the rehabilitation of a contaminated facility is also foreseen. It will cost 272,550 dinars. Just as much as approval for an updated decommissioning plan. The fee for the approval of the decommissioning report and the final radiological inspection report of the facility and site is 726,810 dinars.
The fee for the permit for the trade of radioactive material, radiation generators and other goods amounts to 11,360 dinars. The fee for the transit of radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel through Serbia is 90,850 dinars.
