Outgoing Prime Minister of Serbia Milos Vucevic said on Saturday that the opening of dialogue "on numerous issues" is the only way out of any social crisis, and that Serbia will remain "libertarian and militarily neutral", because that is what the majority of its citizens want.
In Orašac, during the ceremony marking the Meeting, Statehood Day, he added that Serbia will never renounce Kosovo and Metohija and that it will not jeopardize its „friendship with traditional allies“.
„The human age is filled with ups and downs, moments of joy, but also sadness… It was like that in the past, it is like this now, and it will be like this in the future… Through faith and hope, as well as the always necessary harmony, we can overcome all the challenges that are in front of us,“ said Vucevic.
He reminded that today marks the 190th anniversary of the promulgation of the Sretenji Constitution, which Dimitrije Davidović created in a liberal spirit, and that the economic plan of the ruling majority will be implemented in the name of „past and future generations“.
„Although some dream and fantasize that Serbia has to stop, to give in, we are telling them from this place that this will not happen. They forget all the pressures we have gone through as a nation in the past 100 years alone, and nothing can break our persistence and desire for justice,“ said Vucevic speaking at a ceremony marking the Statehood Day of Serbia in Orasac.
On February 15, Serbia celebrates Statehood Day, while the Serbian Orthodox Church also commemorates Candlemas (Sretenje) on the same date.

Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic laid a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Hero in Avala, on this occasion. „Free, persistent and brave, the Serbs are a nation that, thanks to the strength of spirit and will, has never been broken, despite numerous attempts throughout history,“ he wrote in the Memorial Book.
„Bowing to the shadows of you who once defended the honor and freedom of the Serbian people and the state, today we preserve your legacy by proudly carrying the national symbols of the Republic of Serbia,“ he stressed.
Gasic laid the wreath as an envoy of the President of Serbia and Commander-in-Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vucic. He was in company of the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Army, General Milan Mojsilovic and the Commander of the Guard, Brigadier General Zeljko Furundzic.
