She told the pro-regime Happy TV that Serbia is now in a better position than the many countries who are wondering how they will secure enough gas in September and added that it’s important to have multiple suppliers, regardless of whether that is Russia or America. “We negotiated a deal of 2.2 billion cubic meters of gas and we consume three billion, so we need to secure supplies for the rest,” she said. The minister said that Serbia has to maintain good relations with the European Union and develop renewable energy sources.

According to Mihajlovic, the gas interconnection with Bulgaria was not completed because Serbia relied on Russia gas, adding that the interconnection will be finished in 2023. She expressed hope that Serbia would build its own gas storage soon.
