Serbia, Romania signed MOU on Djerdap 3 hydropower plant

She said Djerdap 3 is Serbia's largest energy project, adding that the memorandum was the result of several years of joint effort and would support further information-sharing after preliminary studies and analyses had been completed. She said the project is being developed under the Serbia-US Agreement on Strategic Cooperation in the Field of Energy.

Bolojan is quoted as recalling that Serbia and Romania had a long history of energy sector cooperation through the jointly operated Djerdap 1 and Djerdap 2 hydropower plants. He said the memorandum marked the start of discussions on a potential new joint project aimed at assessing the benefits and impacts of the Djerdap 3 facility.
