Serbia, Romania to build gas interconnector

Mining and Energy Minister Dubravka Djedović Handanovic and her Romanian counterpart Sebastian Burduja signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the construction of a gas interconnector between the two countries.

A government press release said that gas pipeline will connect the Mokrin hub in Serbia with the BRUA gas pipeline across the border in Romania with the Serbian section being completed by 2027.
The pipeline on the Serbian side will be 13 kilometers long and 86 kilometers on the Romanian side, the press release said and added that the projected capacity of the interconnector is at least 1.6 billion cubic meters of gas.
The project is intended to reinforce both countries’ energy security and diversify supply routes for the rgional market.
