Serbia to delay appointment of ambassador to the U.S. until after American elections

Serbia will not appoint an ambassador to Washington until the end of the U.S. election process, N1 has learned.
According to our source, Minister Marko Djuric informed Serbian diplomats in Washington of this decision yesterday.
N1 reached out to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, asking when Serbia will have a new ambassador in the U.S. and why a new one has not been appointed yet, but no response had been received by the time of publication.
It is worth noting that Serbia has been without an ambassador in Washington since Marko Djuric was recalled to become Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced in February this year that Djuric would return to Serbia.
On February 13, Djuric held a reception at the Serbian residence in Washington to mark Serbia’s Statehood Day, bidding farewell to the diplomatic corps and the Serbian community in America before his return.
The new Serbian government, in which Djuric became Minister of Foreign Affairs, was formed on May 2, when the ministers were sworn in and began their four-year term.
Djuric was appointed as Serbia's ambassador to the U.S. in October 2020, after serving as the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija from May 2014.
