The Serbian Bar Association (AKS) voted to suspend work for three days, from February 23 to 25, in protest of recently adopted controversial amendments to key judicial laws, N1 has learned.

The announcement follows a one-day strike held by lawyers in Vojvodina on Wednesday, which was also organized as a protest against the legislative changes.
The amendments were submitted to parliament by Ugljesa Mrdic, an MP from the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS). Critics warn that the new measures significantly limit the operations of the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime (JTOK) - an office that has frequently faced pressure from the ruling coalition for bringing charges against ministers and other high-ranking state officials. The legislation has drawn criticism from both the domestic opposition and the European Commission.
