Serbian basketball star N. Jokic returns home after "job done"
Serbian basketball player Nikola Jokic, who brought the Denver Nuggets the first title in the history of the franchise on the night between Monday and Tuesday, landed at Belgrade's Nikola Tesla airport.
After winning the title, Jokic made the now legendary statement "The job’s done, now we can go home," but he still decided to stay in Colorado's biggest city and celebrate his long-awaited success in a magnificent parade with his fellow residents.
The Sombor-born landed in Serbia on Saturday, but it is not clear how and where exactly he will spend his free time, although it is expected that he will immediately go to his native Sombor from the airport.
At the press conference after winning the title, a few minutes after the biggest success in his career, Jokic was unpleasantly surprised when he found out that the parade was on Thursday because he had obligations on Sunday.
Organized by the Equestrian Club "Vojvodjanin," whose president is Nikola's father Branislav, trotting races are held on Sunday at the City Hippodrome in Sombor. The best trotters in the country compete in the popular, fast race for the Cup of the city of Sombor.
However, it should be said that Jokic had a great time at the well-attended parade in Denver, where coach Michael Malone was by far the happiest.
In one of his statements after the final series with the Miami Heat, which the Golden Nuggets won 4-1, Jokic pointed out that his priority during the break will be rest.
