Patriarch Porfirije will serve a liturgy at a monastery in the Croatian town of Jasenovac on Saturday, the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) said on Friday.

The liturgy is being served to mark the day of Holy New Martyrs of Jasenovac, the press release said. Jasenovac is the site of a WW 2 death camp set up by the Croatian fascist Ustashi in what was then the Nazi puppet Indepedent State of Croatia. Thousands of Serbs, Jews and Roma were executed at the camp.

The press release said that the Patriarch will serve a liturgy at a monastery in the Lika area of Croatia on Sunday in memory of civilians and POWs who died in a Croatian military operation in 1993.
