Serbian doctor says function of doctors in pandemic crisis staff unclear
Doctor Milanko Sekler, virologist and microbiologist at the Veterinary Specialist Institute in Kraljevo, said on Sunday that he does not know the role of the Crisis Staff in Serbia and that "the political part of the staff should be asked for an opinion on the growing number of people infected with the coronavirus."
Sekler told TV Prva that the ban on the gathering of more than 500 people in public places has been in force since June and that the measures say that if you want more than that number of people to attend, you must seek the opinion of the Crisis Staff.
"Ask the political part of the Crisis Staff if there is an increase in newly infected people, they know better than the doctors for whom I am not sure what their function is in the Crisis Staff and what they should do," Sekler said.
When asked about the organization of New Year's Eve in the squares, Sekler said that the most dangerous thing is when someone "thinks he knows everything" and believes that he can do everything.
"So everyone in Europe was stupid and banned celebrations because they didn't know they could celebrate, and we saw a chance to give Europe what it doesn't want because we don't have the coronavirus and everything is great," said the doctor.
