Education Minister Branko Ruzic confirmed on Thursday that the bomb threats made against schools in the Serbian capital were false.

More than 170 public and private schools received bomb threats on Monday morning, forcing their evacuation. Police bomb squads searched all the schools for the next two days but found no explosive devices. Some of the schools went on with classes normally while others switched to online classes. Bomb threats were also sent or phoned in to hospitals, an airport and a central police station in different parts of Serbia.

Ruzic told the pro-regime TV Pink that the intent behind the anonymous bomb threats was to exhaust state resources and paralyze the country.
