Serbian election commission says amendments adopted

The Serbian Republic Election Commission (RIK) said late on Sunday night that just over 30 percent of the electorate turned out for the referendum on amendments to the constitution with a majority voting yes.

RIK Chairman Vladimir Dimitrijevic and Republic Statistics Office (RZS) CEO Miladin Kovacevic told reporters at an 11 pm news conference that 30.63 percent of eligible voters turned out for the referendum according to the count at 10.30 pm.

Kovacevic said that 1.04 percent of the ballots were invalid.

He said that 61.84 percent of the voters who turned out voted yes and 37.1 percent voted no.

A total of 6,150,323 people had the right to vote at 8,179 polling stations.
