Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic stated that he "does not remember" stronger pressures on Serbia since 1999, and added that Serbia did not impose sanctions on Russia for eight months because they were not in its interest.

„We have to constantly talk with partners in Europe and in the West in general, and we’re doing that. President (of Serbia Aleksandar) Vucic is constantly in these talks, and now I will be more involved in it as the Minister of Foreign Affairs“, Dacic told Kurir.

When asked whether Serbia can continue to resist the pressure to introduce sanctions against Russia, he stated that sanctions against Russia were not introduced for eight months because they are not in the country’s interest.

„If our interests, our economy and our political stability are threatened in any way, we will consider different decisions, but those will only be our decisions and no pressure will help,“ said Dacic.

He said that Belgrade could be the place for peace talks between the Russian and Ukrainian presidents „if there is a sincere desire from both sides to discuss peace in Belgrade“.
