The Serbian Government adopted Friday two key draft media laws – Law on Public Information and Media and Law on Electronic Media, learns N1.
The two bills should soon be tabled in the parliament.
However, there is no information on whether the Law on Public Information and Media still contains the disputed provisions allowing Telekom Serbia to own media outlets, now also under the law, which media association strongly oppose.
Following consultations with OSCE, two articles contested by journalists’ and media organizations were removed from the draft laws earlier this week.
The two draft laws have still not been published.
The Media Strategy clearly stipulates that the state has to relinquish ownership of media.
