The Serbian government met in extraordinary session on Tuesday to declare September 27 a day of mourning over what a press release called tragic events in Kosovo.

“The government of Serbia is asking all the media and organisers of public events to adapt their programmes to the Day of Mourning on 27 September and thus pay respect to the victims of Kosovo and Metohija,” the press release said.

The day of mourning was declared following the deaths of several Kosovo Serbs in an armed incident at the Banjska monastery. A Kosovo Police officer was also killed in the incident.

The Belgrade-backed Serb List declared 3 days of mourning in the northern majority-Serb municipalities.
