Serbian government introduces Memorial Days for mass murder victims

A press release said that the decision was proposed by the Education Ministry at the initiative of the Victimology Society of Serbia and the support of a working group setting up a memorial center in the Vladislav Ribnikar elementary school.

That school and two villages outside the town of Mladenovac were the sites of mass shootings on May 3 and 4, 2023.

“The decision encourages memory of the victims of the mass murders, encourages a culture of remembrance and sends a clear message that the victims must not be forgotten and tragic event like these must not be repeated,” the press release said.
