Serbian government planning university with church

A press release said that the SPC and government will set up the St Sava University and added that a memorandum of understanding has been signed to that effect “bearing in mind the need to constantly improve the education system and raise its quality in line with the principles of knowledge, upbringing and morals”.

“The university is being formed with the intention of the state and SPC cooperating in the field of higher education based on joint responsibility to develop knowledge, preserve the fundamental values of the individual and society and take care of cultural and spiritual heritage,” the press release said.

Saint Sava, a medieval Serbian prince turned monk, known as the enlightener was the first head of the SPC.
