Serbian, Hungarian DefMins on cooperation
The Defense Ministers of Serbia and Hungary, Milos Vucevic and Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky, discussed cooperation at their meeting in Budapest on Friday.
A Serbian government press release quoted Vucevic as saying that a new chapter of defense cooperation has opened and will deal with concrete matters. “Vucevic pointed out that today's meetings are proof of substantive and fruitful cooperation, recalling that Hungary and Serbia are strategic partners, friends and more than that,” it added.
He also expressed readiness to cooperate with Hungary on all issues of common interest related to security and defence, “while respecting the fact that Hungary is part of NATO and that Serbia is militarily neutral”. Vucevic recalled that Serbia buys weapons and military equipment from Hungary and supplies its neighbor’s military.
“Szalay-Bobrovniczky said Serbia is a prominent and strategic partner of Hungary, noting that the two countries have exceptional cooperation in all fields, including the field of defence,” the press release said.
The two ministers also attendedthe opening of the first meeting of the Serbian-Hungarian Working Group for the Defense Industry and Armaments between delegations of the Material Resources Sector of the Serbian Defense Ministry and the Defense and Armaments Industry of Hungary.
