The Independent Journalists’ Association of Serbia (NUNS) warned on Tuesday that the KRIK investigative portal has been targeted by a number of interest groups and individual, primarily by politicians, all through this year.

A press release recalled that KRIK is being sued by the owner of the Jovanjica marijuana farm for reporting in detail about his indictment among other things. KRIK and its editor on chief Stevan Dojcinovic are being sued by Predrag Koluvija along with a demand for damages of 400,000 Dianrs (1 Euro – 118 Dinars).

“Our data base includes seven cases of pressure against KRIK journalists since the start of the year. SLAPP suits against journalists are a familiar way of silencing media,” it said. According to the press release, more than 10 media outlets have reported SLAPP suits being filed against them to date.
