Serbian judge elected to European Court of Human Rights

The Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) elected Mateja Djurovic as judge to the European Court of Human Rights in respect of Serbia, a press release said on Wednesday.
It said that the judge, a Belgrade University Law School graduate, won an absolute majority of the votes cast and was elected judge of the European Court of Human Rights for a term of office of nine years.
Judges are elected by PACE from a list of three candidates nominated by each State which has ratified the European Convention on Human Rights, the press release said.
Djurovic is a Professor of Law and Technology and co-director of the Centre for Technology, Ethics, Law and Society at King’s College London and was an Assistant Professor at the School of Law, City University of Hong Kong. He also worked for the Legal Service of the European Commission, as well as a consultant for the European Commission, BEUC and the United Nations.
