The construction workers from Vietnam were brought to Serbia by the Chinese company and had their passports taken away among other things. They sleep on mattresses on concrete floors and are forced to share small shower rooms and toilets.
The Ministry issued a statement which was made available only to the state TV (RTS) sahying that the Linglong construction site has been inspected more than any other in that part of Serbia. “Unannounced inspections took place during the day by the competent state services primarily in coordination with the Internal Affairs Ministry (MUP) bureau coordinating anti-people trafficking activities,” it said and added that a report on the inspection would be published in the next few days.
A Linglong manager who refused to identify himself, told the RTS that every report in the media about the construction site was false.
